Never been in credit card debt ever. I pay it off every month. From a young age I equated debt with slavery. My first new car loan in 1996, I purchased the cheapest new vehicle I could afford ($10,000) and put a large down payment on it, so my payments were $125 a month for 4 years. only other debt I had was a house loan. Purchased a small fixer upper and put 20 percent down on a 20 yr. fixed loan.

Don't forget overdraft. They carry a little higher charge then credit cards. Not many people speak about overdraft. I'm guilty of it, I use it more then credit cards.
