You do in up paying taxes on that money , I believe it’s a 1099-C

JrTheRillest says:

The pausing in between Dave’s advice is annoying, dude waits for the caller to respond when he stop talking just so he can cut them off again

J 336 says:

What wicked advice. You honor your word. You took out the debt, you pay it off. Just because they are evil does not mean you have to be.

IDontKnow WhoIAm says:

why are debt collectors the bad people when YOU'RE to blame for your own stupidity?

Bruce Vojak says:

What I’m troubled by here is the idea of “being wise as serpents, yet gentle as doves.”

She should have been sufficiently wise to not assume this debt up front.

She should be sufficiently gentle to pay what she’s committed to pay.

I truly don’t understand Dave Ramsey’s position on this in light of his professed Christian faith.

Donald Montgomery says:

I opened a secured credit card account.I put $1000 of my money down as the security deposit.I used the credit card only one time for $500 and paid it off immediately so I have had a zero balance since then and I have tried for months to get my money back and I have talked to over 20 people and everyone keeps passing me around and no one can help.I assume this is the biggest rip off

Rachel Lawrence says:

So what's the disadvantage here? Her credit shot?

Corey Burnett says:

Here's one thing I have never quite understood about Dave Ramsey and his approach towards collectors. Dave is a Christian and seems to adhere to biblical principles. He seems to get super angry towards collectors and collection agencies. And he often times tells people to just ignore those collectors. But in my view the problem here lies with the individual that is behind on their payments – not the collection agency. The collection agency is simply trying to collect on a legally binding debt. The proper and honorable and moral thing to do is to pay back your debts. If you borrowed money and are not paying it back then you are the one in the wrong. Now I know that these collectors use terrible tactics to get their money back. And I know they are often times deceptive and can scam people. But the person who is not paying back the debt is also in the wrong. If you borrowed money you are obligated to pay it back! Right? Dave seems to have no moral issues with borrowing a large sum of money and then only paying back a tiny portion of it. There is something about that that just seems wrong to me.

Ced says:

This is why Dave deserves the legendary status he has
