harrison wintergreen says:

if you can't afford a $2000-4000 retainer for a lawyer, Google to find the location of a nearby Legal Aid office and/or drop by the local courthouse and ask about free or low-cost legal advice (they'll probably have a pamphlet). or ask on the Legal Advice section of Reddit (they're limited on what they can say, but it's good basic general advice and can help outline your options). many many lawyers offer a free consultation — so go in with the bullet points and they'll give you 10-15 minutes and often some advice even if you don't hire them.

L91 says:

I feel for him. I have depression and haven’t been able to work for a year because I am too depressed to go to work. Luckily I don’t have any debt and my dad let me stay with him until I recover. I am very grateful for this.

Michelle Grenier says:

They can’t garnish your wages but they will seize your checking account. The minute your paycheck hits your account, it’s fair game!
