Everyone who receives the rescue funds is going to be engaged in the recovery. Even those whose income is too high to receive rescue funds will be engaged in the recovery. This is not simply about having the money; nor spending the money for oneself. The funds pour out into the economy both in the form of new spending and in the form of paying debt accrued in 2019. A lot more rescue is needed however. Yes, there need to be more jobs; jobs that pay fair living wages. Mortgages and back rent need attention. Delayed medical care is needed. The number of small businesses that have been lost is staggering. $600 is but a drop in the bucket. $2000 is scarcely a few drops in the bucket. Poverty and homelessness and unbridled family and individual debt are not hallmarks of a healthy society or healthy economy.
Cities, counties, states, and the federal government must have their taxes revenues restored.
The rescue funds Americans received earlier in the year have all been returned to the economy. Unemployment benefits have been used to pay bills and get by and brace for 2021. The pandemic is not going to vanish. The challenges for society are not going to vanish. The challenges for the economy are not going to vanish. The economic impact is global. The pandemic is global. Climate change is global.
