I was never served or made aware of a court date. Now, there is a judgment against me. Is this common?

@AirborneArmyInfantry says:

I have had one instance of being sued by a debt collector, as a 100 percent disabled vet, my money can’t be garnished, thus they finally saw the error of their ways and payed them off. As I told them I would never pay them and the could not garnish my va pay.

@Liberals_R_Chomos says:

Tell them you are on disability

@Liberals_R_Chomos says:

I have, I ignored it, nothing happens.

@Sjaldnel says:

Bullish or bearish, AI stocks will still dominate 2025, even beyond. Why I prefer NVIDIA is that they are better placed to maintain long-term growth potential, and provide a platform for other AI companies. I know someone who has made more than 200% from NVIDIA. I'll also take these other recommendations you made.

@RichardStraut says:

Hey you should talk about the Fair debt collect practicing act because if they violate any of those laws on somebody they can get awarded $1000 in action from my understanding I am currently in Missouri and I counter sued a debt collector for $21,000 for falsely representing themselves as original creditor never sending debt validation letters and several other factors and I'm doing this all myself no lawyer just by myself I am filing discovery now which could ultimately lead to a lot more than $21,000 in violations

@NeBuRLbC says:

I'm currently being sued by LVNV funding. I hired an attorney to handle the lawsuit, but it seems like he has no plans of even trying to get the case dismissed even if its possible. I feel like he is more concerned about trying to settle the debt down to 70% – 80% and get his 20% total debt commission. What are the chances of getting the lawsuit dismissed with LVNV funding if i try to handle my own case? I've already paid the lawyer $500 to proceed with filing the proper paperwork. Was hiring an attorney the best route to take for my situation?

@mar91942 says:

I watch these cases in my local small claims court (JP court in Texas). I can’t tell you how many of these suits I see getting non-suited (voluntarily dismissed) when an answer is actually filed. Debt buyers seem to be hunting for a default judgment and running from the defendant’s that file an answer

@randyjeffery7347 says:

Question if I got super and I agree $2000 of that company that sued me coming after before $3000 interest can they use this? Signature was scratched out in another person signed above it is that legal.

@SimplySavvyLife says:

I got debt dismissed w/ 1 dispute letter. Collector went back to court post-default judgement for total dismissal as they couldnt provide verification I requested i.e. proof of charges & 2 party signature contract!!

@GoldAndSilver988 says:

I'd just write "I'm broke."

@jodi-bethfelton3696 says:

Thank-you ?

I was served papers on the 27th and the lawsuit says I was served on the 21st. Is it easy to dismiss this?

@Contractorrepair says:

Heading to the pre hearing. Contacted debter and then excepted a repayment agreement and I have the copy of the agreement. Terms a 100 dollars a month. Made 1st payment already. My answer to allegations read, basic have limited information to the facts. Or no knowledge of some of there statements. What could happen in this up coming hearing. The court and attorneys seeing this that have the copys of both. This was a purchase in my name on a lawn mower . My son failed to make payment as scheduled and intercepted any and all notices of missed payments. 2.5 years sence the payment was made. I'm attending to correct the amount due of 1,650.00.

Portfolio recovery assets are CHEATING JERKS changing dates and faking payments

@themovement3299 says:

i get anxiety from watching this video to be honest. too much jargon and gobbledygook. i appreciate the information though

@RobB-g1w says:

“But here’s the basic problem: because the lenders (and the credit bureaus that compile information and data for them) are not on your team. In many cases, what is good for the lender isn’t so good for you. Your credit card or mortgage banker is almost always trying to col-lect as much money in the form of interest and fees as possible while still providing you with the ongoing loan. It’s an adversarial relationship, a relationship that is designed to take advantage of you if you don’t know the rules.”

@CadenceReads says:

I was using Clarity Debt Resolution to pay downs some debts. Unbeknownst to me, one debt was sold, I must have missed that notification. Now LVNV is trying to sue me. I don't even know where to begin. It's upsetting because I am making payments and doing everything I was told to do.
