I learned this and so surprised. I paid off my car and my credit score went down. ( my logic was ok , I paid off debt which means I am responsible and mature and should rise!!!!) just told my son the strange phenomenon who looked at me crazy ????)

Try keeping a very low balance, like $5-$10. It's silly but you'll keep your high score.

The fact that those of us who pay off our credit card balances every month are considered "dead beats" for not making the company money is DEAFENING.
