Don't care what they say and besides if the threaten you in any way you can sue the frack out of them.
I still remember the story i read about a mom who had a bill collector call and tell her it's her fault for being a burden on her family
She comited suicide because of that asshole.
The family didn't even notice her distress she hid it so well.????????????
What about tax debt thats more than 10 years old
Keep in mind that making a partial payment or acknowledging you owe an old debt, even after the statute of limitations expired, may restart the time period.
They can still put it on your credit score though

I had 6,000 in credit card debt that I didn't pay for so long, that they collections was willing to settle for 300. I told them to call me back when it's $30 and hung up
If you tell them to stop calling they have to stop, or you can sue, he forgot that part
They will put it into collections and ding your credit for 7 years

I had a credit card that have a $458 total charge on and the credit card company has it listed as a charge-off. My question is can another debt collection company by that get from them and try to collect it after it's been listed as a charge off?
What do you do if they try to sue you?
Actually the best thing is not to answer your phone and just let it go to voicemail if the bill is past the point where they can’t make you pay.
Because in some cases if you acknowledge the debt they can start it up again.
I have a bill for "abandoning my car" in Oregon from about 10 years ago. I didnt abandon it (was parked outside my apartment) but I wasnt using it so they took it. I was in an abusive relationship and moved to Washington. Lived here for 15 years. I kinda recently got a bill, the bill was sudden, I thought they just sold the car at auction. It was signed by the govenor of Oregon. I just ignored it.
I just lost 2400 for. Debt that I didn't know I had. Thy callled ro my job 2 weeks ago to report to The human resources ro take over my payroll. I had to pay, I felt so powerless bc of my ignorance. I ask so many questions and my rights but it was real and they mention that there where going to sue me and that money will tripple. I will inform myself more anout this. Bc the company is from Puerto Rico, but their main office is in Texas. So I have no idea if it's legal.
