Student debt relief recipients are “hardworking, middle class, working class folks,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren says. In response to comments deriding President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan made by some Republicans, Warren tells Joy Reid, “I’ve just had it with this idea that these are somehow the slackers in America.”

AgW says:

No student loans needs forgiving IF you retroactively cap the interest at 1% and the payment to no more than 4% of your income if you have a job, no payment if you are on welfare or similar also a complete dismissal of all student loan debt the day you turn 65 years old. This will fix the problems for 99,9% of those who need to take the loans. The rest may possibly need extra help. The reason the debts get so big is the ridiculous cost of college and university but that is a whole other issue that needs fixing.

Winnie Cross says:

The President could do this without the Senate and House, where the entire Republican caucus could vote "no," for no reason at all, as they did when they voted against the bill for veterans. The Republicans vote for tax breaks for billionaires but scream bloody murder against anything about education. You tell them, Elizabeth!

James Leavenworth says:

Senator Warren is a better advocate for President Biden's student loan program than the President is. Trade school students are included for benefits in the program but far too often not included in the speeches by its advocates. Now one candidate, Ohio U.S. Senate aspirant Rep Tim Ryan, is shooting himself in the foot by not being on board with the Presidents program.

Cindy says:

I think if peeps could look beyond the "D" & the "R" and vote for what's good for them, we'd be a much different country?

Daniel Di Palma says:

Thank you Biden for helping the average American!

Coco says:

Senator "I Sun Myself in Cancun While the Poors Freeze to Death in my State Ted Cruz" Bajajajaja. Read him Joy.

pete valdes says:

yes but who is going to pay for it

thediddymen says:

If Trump had done this, these same people would be calling him a saint helping the average American……..

sheila lopez says:

Ted the Fled is the most useless person on the face of this planet. He has been taking hundreds of thousands from taxpayers for doing NOTHING for the people.

Shirley Mclean says:

The problem with student debt is that universities like Harvard pay Elizabeth Warren $430,000 to teach a single course. Let's Go, Brandon!

Bill Oakes says:

Warren absolutely stands by and works for Americans.

Bong X says:

I love have Cruz makes himself look stupid. nobody has to do that for him. ?

Summer says:

Cruz is an unctuous slave of his corporate paymasters. Stands by and let’s his wife be publicly humiliated. What a guy!

John Downer says:

"Slacker Baristas on the Bong". In a nutshell what Senator Cruz thinks of younger Americans!

Apoc says:

Senator Karen is out of touch.

R. T. says:

Mrs. Warren went to school because she claimed to be a Native American. She took someones place that deserved that spot. She has no credibility.
No one was forced to sign the contract. Once you sign your obligated. Rich Universities are the scammers. Interest rates are much to high.
P. S. IT’S NOT YOUR BODY.
Choose tubal ligation.

Deborah Freedman says:

If the cutoff family income was not a quarter million dollars each year, but instead was more like $50K, an argument that this helps the "working middle class" might be made. But, as it stands now, this helps the elite, the upper 2%, on the backs of the "working middle class". If you took out loans, to party for six of seven years, and came out with a worthless humanities degree, you pay for your damned vacation.

Garpfruit says:

I realize that not every degree has an obvious use in a career path, but those who only seek knowledge for financial gain are not true stewards of knowledge. Humanity is only able to do the amazing things that it can because we’ve been building up and passing on knowledge for over 10,000 years. Human knowledge is like a snowball. You can roll it through the snow and it will grow. We’ve been rolling the same snowball for ten millennia and now we have a massive knowledge snowball that lets us make crazy stuff like 3D printers and drones. But we have to pass all this knowledge on or the snowball will shrink and we will be taking a step backwards. Thankfully most of the knowledge in the snowball has been preserved in books and on the internet, but what about niche knowledge that was only recently gained? Well it needs to be passed on by stewards of knowledge. We want to pass on as much as possible because even things that seem pointless may lay the foundation for future knowledge of great importance. A perfect example is philosophy. Philosophy has very little in terms of immediately apparent practical applications, but our system of government is actually based on the work of many great past philosophers. Who is to say that a modern philosopher won’t come up with something that will be just as important later down the line.

Do-Bee Brothers says:

Satanic neurotoxin weapons platform that’s all they truly are, their hatred of the lower classes knows no boundaries ???????????????????????????????????

Nameless Lang says:

It's amazing how people try to talk about the fact they went through the loan-paying process talk about how it's "sooo unfair" that people in this generation get help, like they don't want anyone to have a better life than them.

If you are openly advocating to make the lives of other people worse because "you had to do it, so everyone else should", you have gone beyond stupid and into sociopathic and cruel. We should not have to enslave ourselves to unfair working conditions trying to pay our debts off like you think we should.

Bill Hicks says:

Two years, free college at state or trade schools for anyone who can pass the entrance exams, which should be difficult. Investing in education creates well paid workers who then pay more taxes instead of needing social safety net money. It ends up paying for itself.

Colleen Orrick says:

Ted Cruz – what a horrible specimen! Calling people who have student loans slacker baristas? So what’s wrong with working hard as a barista to earn a living and pay off student loans?

Chota bodybuilder says:

Hard brother 48

Nic Lewis says:

Only Republicans could suggest investing in American's and Education is bad. These are future electrician's, plumber's, teachers, IT technicians, engineers, nurse's, construction industry and manufacturing. To name a few.

Rhonda Harris says:

A lot of the student loan debt problems or because of predatory Bank interest rates. Adjusting the interest rates to something reasonable and helping those students who were victimized by the banking industry and the universities who sold them on the idea that they could borrow money and somehow everything would be okay.
But some of the students have to take a little bit of responsibility where did they choose to go to school, could they go out of state and live in a dorm and join a fraternity or sorority and partying have fun and piled up debt to do so. High school counselors need to help kids make better choices for their education, there is nothing wrong with going to a community college to get basic coursework done as long as it transfers to a four-year University.
How many years did it take you to get that BA?

Carole Tomlinson says:

Why not state that educated American citizens benefit the country. They build the bridges, roads and houses. They educate our young. They nurse and heal, and they fix. And they will buy…and stimulate the economy. And reduce inflation by inserting their income into the economy rather than into the purses of the profiteers of the Reagan 1980’s.
