I feel your pain. I graduated school owing about $170,000 in student loans 10 years ago. I enrolled in one of the government income based loan programs and now owe about $270,000. Crazy but true! We have 3 kids and live a very modest life. F*** student loans! Modern day indentured servitude.
I feel for you. I just finished paying off a large debt of $140k+ in 2020. Mine was a combination of student loans, car loan and business debt. It is absolutely possible to pay off your debt. It is certainly crushing and painful while going through the process but I can't wait to e-celebrate with you when you are done. At one point during this debt pay off journey I was only making $30k per year and my formula for success even as my income increased was to live way below my means even to the point of moving back in with my parents since I had that option. Best wishes to every one on their journey to pay off debt. I'm living proof it can be done even when making a small income.
Nice! I'm in the same boat. As a dental student I'll owe about 450k by graduation, and I estimate that it'll take me roughly 8 years to pay it off.

am I the only one astounded by the sheer mass of available cash that this couple has to throw at their debt? $14,684 in August? I have to work for MONTHS to merely amass this as my INCOME. Can you put your salaries? General numbers if you guys aren't comfortable with specifics. I just think it would be interesting to see how much income is going towards the debt.
