2. It might be helpful to talk to a certified financial planner or a certified credit counselor about your situation. An objective third party can help you figure out what makes the most sense for you.
3. Four common ways to consolidate debt include: a balance transfer credit card, a personal loan, a home equity loan and a home equity line of credit.
4. When you’re thinking about your options, consider interest rates, fees and whether you’re comfortable putting up your home as collateral (in the case of a home equity line of credit or home equity loan).

Sorry but I no longer buy in to this crap. Why? Because we just paid off the car, two personal loans, 6 credit cards AND refinanced the mortgage for OVER 1/2 the old rate it was at thus lowering out payment by almost half…. and guess what? Our credit scores went DOWN and we have things being said on the site like, "closing accounts can be bad …." blah blah blah… Talk about out of touch. We have NEVER been late on ANY payment to ANY creditor. We have just paid off the balances of our cards entirely AND two personal loans plus the refinance and our credit score DROPS?
This is nothing but a scam by banks and credit companies.
