Dental hygienist Liz and truck driver Will are engaged in a destructive spending game. Control freak Liz handles all the finances while keeping Will on a tight leash, yet still spends a lavish amount on clothes for herself, their baby and their dog. In retaliation, Will takes out costly cash advances. They’ve refinanced their home several times to hide debt in their mortgage to the point they now owe more than the house is worth. Getting this couple back on track means reigning in the spending, finding ways to re-build equity in their home and getting rid of the resentment between them. Gail finds way to get them fighting their debt rather than each other. –

It’s funny that this was filmed in the early 2000’s and thrift store shopping wasn’t that popular it now 20ish years later people brag about deals they get at thrift stores! Even well off people shop there ????

Amanda B says:

I wish people would realize that the fast fashion that they wear once and then "donate" to the Goodwill or Salvation Army will most likely (84% of donated clothes) end up in the dump, or in the dump of another country. Very little donated actually makes it into the thrift store for resale. So not only are you spending money on unnecessary clothes, but you are contributing to climate change. Shop wisely. That being said my children's clothing mostly came from local thrift stores as they were growing up, especially during the fast growing years. Now that they are young adults all are VERY frugal with money, self sufficient, and all THREE had saved at least $15,000 dollars by the time they spend were 18 for when they moved out on their own for Uni. We were/are not a wealthy family, actually just barely middle class according to California wages. Teach your children well, especially about money and saving it, so they don't end up like the people in this show or her Prince$$ show. Also what she was initially doing to her husband is called financial abuse.
